SAN ANTONIO – Two teenagers were arrested Tuesday after police say they stole a brand-new vehicle in Stone Oak and took it on a joy rail before being tracked down with the OnStar system.

Anaiz Zamudio, a St. Mary’s University student from El Paso who wields the car, said she was returning to San Antonio for a summer job and stayed at her aunt’s house Monday night in Stone Oak.

Tuesday morning, she discovered shattered glass on the street where her car was parked.

Paramedics responded to the crash around three a.m. on June 20, 2017, in the one hundred block of East Ramsey Road, where they found the driver dead at the scene.

Zamudio reported the theft and police tracked her car using the OnStar system as the suspects drove around the city. Police eventually tracked it to the West Side, where officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the suspects continued to drive.

“We were driving around, we ran into it and they took off from us,” said Officer Lucio of the San Antonio Police Department. “They turned a corner and then bailed. We got two out of the three.”

The two captured suspects are described as 16- and 17-years-old. One of the arrested suspects was begging an officer to let him go from inwards a police squad car.

“I’m just attempting to get home, officer,” he said. “Please, tormentor, will you think about it?”

The suspect was not released.

After recovering the stolen vehicle, Anaiz Zamudio realized all of the clothing she had brought with her from El Paso was missing.

“I’m missing my purse. I don’t see my wallet, my shirts, my blouses, my dresses, my formal dress,” she said. “Everything’s gone.”

Family members said they were glad the car was returned to Anaiz with minimal damages, but now police need to find out where they dumped all of her belongings.

“Her trunk was total to the gills with her stuff. All her s–t’s missing,” said Niza Moreno, Zamudio’s aunt. “What is she going to do? These punks most likely just threw it out somewhere.”
