Bentley EXP ten Speed six is the British brand’s future 2-seat sports car!
The two thousand fifteen Geneva Motor Display is welcoming an arousing fresh member to the Bentley Motors family. While technically still a concept car, the Bentley EXP ten Speed six is a two-seat sports car that is assured to each production much sooner rather than later.
It’s also fairly possibly one of the prettiest Bentley vehicles to be exposed within the past decade. And that’s telling something, especially when you consider we’re talking about come-hither sports and luxury cars like a Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Mulsanne.
The side profile of the EXP ten Speed six has the same sweeping fenders and tapered greenhouse seen on the thicker Continental. This concept’s nose is much blunter, however, with a near-vertical mesh grille and lower air intake predominant the front end. On either side are a pair of LED-rimmed headlights (however this concept might opt for even more cutting-edge laser lights), and the engine cover is subtly scalloped to give a sense of power and speed.
A number “6” emblazoned behind the front mesh is a styling touch we especially love on this concept.
The EXP ten Speed six has a lot of Continental in the form of its side glass and the sweet of its front and rear fenders.
Slender oval-shaped tail lights, a steeply raked rear window, and integrated spoiler in the trailing edge of the trunk make the back of the EXP ten Speed six as appealing as the concept’s bold front end.
“EXP ten Speed six is one vision for Bentley’s future – a powerful, exquisite and individual concept. The show-car has the potential to be the fresh pinnacle luxury two-seat sports car,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors, in the press release accompanying news of the car’s introduction.
“It could be a future model line, alongside the Continental GT and redefining the pinnacle of another market sector, and the styling of the EXP ten Speed six could influence the expansion of the Bentley family. This is not just a fresh sports car concept – but the potential Bentley sports car – a bold vision for a brand with a bold future.”
Car companies are usually very coy about whether or not a concept will make the leap to production. In this case, Bentley has given us everything but a price, on-sale date and, oh yes, any hint regarding the engine or transmission underneath the gorgeous sheet metal.
Much like the cabin in the fresh Mercedes AMG-GT, a large central tunnel predominates the interior of this sleek Bentley sports car.
Leather and metallic trim give the cabin of a EXP ten Speed six all the style and panache of the best exotic cars.
Expect more mechanical details to be exposed during this week’s media preview at the two thousand fifteen Geneva Motor Showcase, held from March 4-5. We can at least vouch that the cabin is stunning, with its quilted leather seats, copper accent trim on the dash, and the sculpted infotainment touch-screen that flows along the upper half of the center console.
For a little marketing perspective about where this car could fit in the Bentley range, consider that the current Continental GT V8 boasts a twin-turbocharged Four.0-liter V-8, an 8-speed automatic transmission, standard all-wheel-drive, and a embarking price just below $200,000. That leaves lots of wiggle room for a lighter and less expensive sports model, one that still has all the style and power expected of a Bentley.
We foresee a Bentley sports car with 450-horsepower, a choice of rear or all-wheel-drive, an 8-speed with paddle-shifters, and an eventual price of about $125,000-$150,000 per copy; or right around Audi R8, Mercedes AMG-GT, Acura NSX and Aston Martin Vantage S levels of money.
Again, we’ll know more soon, when the Daily News Autos team reports live from the show-floor as the activity happens during the Geneva Motor Showcase.
