An armed standoff in Prunedale ended peacefully yesterday (Tuesday). Authorities say that a man barricaded himself in a residence on North Road when Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies demonstrated up to investigate reports of firearm brandishing. The deputies were able to talk the man into giving up to authorities.

The San Lorenzo Valley Water District’s Board of Directors voted to make repairs to the Fall Creek Fish Ladder. The vote came during a special board meeting on a mandate by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to keep debris cleared out of the ladder. The ladder was bruised during last years storms. The repair project takes advantage of available FEMA disaster funds and must be finished by October fifteen th . The repair is expected to cost about twenty five thousand dollars.

The CHP has released information on four traffic fatalities. The four fatal accidents took place over four days. On Friday forty five year old Ricardo Hernandez was arrested for DUI and manslaughter after his sixty seven year old masculine passenger was killed. On Saturday a forty two year old man was killed in a head on crash near Hollister. A Watsonville man died on Sunday on San Miguel Canyon Road in Prunedale when he lost control and veered into oncoming traffic. Then early Monday morning a thirty one year old Watsonville man was found dead in a solo crash on Highway one hundred ninety one ner Highway 25.

FIRE CREWS ARE FIGHTING A FIRE IN THE HILLS WEST OF GILROY. THE BALLYBUNION FIRE WAS REPORTED ON THE two thousand BLOCK OF BALLYBUNION COURT SHORTLY BEFORE eight P-M, ON SUNDAY. CALFIRE IS NOW REPORTING THE FIRE HAS CONSUMED MORE THAN one hundred ACRES AND IS EXPECTED TO BE FULLY CONTAINED BY FRIDAY.
Salinas Woman Sentenced-9/Five/17-1601-PMD
A woman recently convicted in connection with a Salinas high speed pursue has been sentenced to prison. On March twenty th, twenty six year old Jessica Wright led patrol units on a high speed pursue after being confronted by officers in the Walmart parking lot. Wright was sentenced to two years in a state prison.
