16-year-old charged after pursue reaches speeds of one hundred mph, police say
Updated: Jun 8, two thousand seventeen – 9:04 AM
CONCORD, N.C. – Officers arrested a teenager accused of leading police on a high-speed pursue Wednesday night from Charlotte to Concord.
Police charged 16-year-old Dahmeune Baxter with robbery with a dangerous weapons, speeding and several other serious charges following the pursuit.
Authorities told Channel nine that Baxter was behind the wheel of a Honda that police attempted to stop on Interstate 77, near Morehead Street, but that Baxter refused to stop.
Baxter could be seen on DOT cameras weaving through traffic on Interstate 85, and police said he was driving more than one hundred mph.
Channel nine followed the pursue on the DOT camera network and eyed the car weaving in and out of traffic near the University City Boulevard exit with police officers following close behind.

Police said Baxter robbed a man at gunpoint just after 7:15 p.m. at an apartment sophisticated parking lot off of Winterfield Place, near Central Avenue. The victim was not hurt but the suspects stole his Honda Accord, according to police.
Police spotted the Honda on I-77 and attempted to stop it, but that’s when police said Baxter began leading them on a pursue.
After about twenty miles, the pursue ended in Concord near George Lyles Parkway. Channel nine was there when police took Baxter into custody in a shopping center near that exit.
Witnesses told Channel nine that police had their guns drawn and that Baxter surrendered peacefully.
“It was just absolutely crazy, I haven’t seen this much activity in Concord in years. I mean they were coming up out of everywhere, I mean we have state police, we have local here, the helicopter was going over. I mean it was like something out of a movie, I mean so chaotic,” the witness told Channel 9.
