Australian car sales spike in June

Sales of fresh cars leaped by twenty five per cent in June thanks to strong end of financial year deals.
But the overall story for the car industry remains sour, with total sales down 0.Four per cent on the same period in 2013, with year-to-date sales also trailing by Two.Four per cent.
Sales of cars and utes have fallen over the last twelve months, tho’ SUV sales have grown by Two.9 per cent for the year to date.
Andrew McKellar, chief executive of the Australian Automobile Association, says the result may be an anomaly.
“It’s very clear that request for fresh car purchases has softened in latest months,” he says.
“June is typically a stronger month for sales, as brands contest at the end of financial year. It’s very clear that they are having to suggest good deals to attract fresh buyers in this current market.”
Toyota`s Corolla once again finished on top in a month that eyed records violated for some manufacturers.
Hyundai broke through to sell more than Ten,000 cars in a month for the very first time, in what was also its 23rd consecutive month of record growth.
Toyota’s Corolla remains the most popular car in Australia.
Hyundai Australia chief executive Charlie Kim credited dealers for the result.
«This record result is not just about HMCA and the strength of the Hyundai product range, it`s about the Hyundai dealer network,» he says.

«This resumes the momentum that we`ve had since the begin of the year,» he says.
«With the fresh C-Class launching in late August, we`re certain we will proceed on this rise.»
Luxury cars sales proceed to grow, and Audi`s June promotions paid off strongly with a twenty per cent increase in deliveries compared with June 2013.
Isuzu also liked its best-ever month selling passenger vehicles, delivering two thousand one hundred seventeen examples of its D-Max ute and MU-X SUV.
The Fiat Chrysler Group had a record month for sales, with all nameplates including Alfa Romeo, Jeep and Dodge cracking sales records for each brand.
Jeep`s resurgence was spurred by the Grand Cherokee, which proved more popular than Toyota`s iconic LandCruiser Prado in June.
The American manufacturer has loved a 43.Two per cent increase in its year to date sales, helped by three thousand one hundred ten sales in June that were sixty two per cent ahead of where it was in the same month last year.
Holden`s VF Commodore led a sales revival for the brand that witnessed a year-on-year increase of 17.6 per cent for the month of June and ten per cent for the year to date.
Ford`s sales are down ten per cent compared with June 2013, and five per cent for the year to date.
Having been one of the automotive success stories for Australia in latest years, Mazda`s sales are softening, and have dipped by 0.7 per cent in the year to date.
Honda`s fresh car deliveries remain stuck in a downward spiral, down 34.1 per cent for the year to date, while Nissan has experienced a 24.8 per cent drop.
