Pittsford, N.Y. – Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies have released the identities of the two people involved in Wednesday’s fatal crash on Route 490.
Deputies said Noah Marinelli, 33, of Canandaigua and Danielle Golding, 31, of Utica were both thrown from the Volkswagon Jetta in which they were traveling. Marinelli was reportedly thrown about one hundred fifty feet and died at the scene.
Golding was also ejected from the vehicle and was flown to the hospital via Grace Flight for treatment. She passed away from her injuries July Trio.
The crash occurred at 11:00 a.m. at the Rt. 31F off-ramp, near St. John Fisher College.
Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies say they responded to a larceny at a CVS at Rt. Ninety six and State Rt. Three hundred thirty two in Farmington. Marinelli and Golding then fled the scene, leading police on a car pursue.
“A deputy was placed in the turnaround area north of the thruway exchange, [and] the described suspect vehicle passed his location,” said Ontario County Sheriff Philip Povero.
That deputy followed the driver on four hundred ninety westbound, but kept their distance – eventually backing off when the drivers speed hit a certain threshold.
“He did exactly what he should have done for the safety of everyone involved,” said Captain John Ott of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
“The suspect’s vehicle speed accelerated to a point that the deputy, following departmental protocols, backed off on the pursue and the vehicle left his site,” said Sheriff Povero.
The deputy later eyed the suspect’s car lounging in a ditch at the 31F off ramp on four hundred ninety west.
“It shows up as if they struck the median in the middle, and lost control all the way across three lanes and went off the embankment,” Cpt. Ott said.
A woman named Tammy said she was railing on four hundred ninety West when the crash happened. She says Marinelli made eye contact with her right before the crash happened.
“He turned and smiled at me, and it looked like the two were scuffling in the front seat,” Tammy said. “Within seconds, he hit the concrete barrier and ricocheted off that right in front of me. I was attempting to stop as rapid as I could.”
13WHAM reached out to several friends of Marinelli, who say he struggled with drug addiction but was attempting to clean up his ways.
“It’s hitting home to everybody right now, and its rough because nobody knows what to do anymore,” Tammy said. “Its an epidemic.”
