2017 Jeep Compass makes US debut at LA auto display
Jeep in September gave us our very first look at its two thousand seventeen Compass, the replacement for both the existing Compass as well as the Patriot.
Jeep introduced the fresh compact SUV for the very first time at its plant in Brazil, not only to feast the plant’s achievements but also underscore the fresh global concentrate of the brand.
Now the two thousand seventeen Compass has ultimately made its debut in the United States, appearing on Thursday at the two thousand sixteen Los Angeles auto demonstrate.
For the United States, the Compass will be suggested at launch exclusively with a Two.4-liter inline-4. The engine is rated at one hundred eighty horsepower and one hundred seventy five pound-feet of torque and capable of towing up to Two,000 lb. Depending on the configuration, Jeep says the engine can help the Compass come back up to thirty mpg, thanks in part to an available 9-speed automatic and engine stop-start system.

Buyers have the choice of three transmissions. Front-wheel-drive models can be tooled with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. Four-wheel-drive models can be tooled with either a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic.
And on top of these mechanical configurations, buyers can also choose from four trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk.
As expected, the Compass Trailhawk gets a number of Jeep’s familiar off-roading features such as tow hooks, raised suspension, hill-descent control and the Jeep Selec-Terrain driving modes selector. It also gets an anti-glare fetish mask decal, 17-inch off-road tires, epic treatment and departure angles and up to nineteen in of water fording.
The vehicle also adopts the Jeep Active Drive Low four-wheel-drive system from the related Renegade Trailhawk, suggesting a 20:1 crawl ratio. Other Compass models with four-wheel drive get the standard Jeep Active Drive setup.
